JAMMU, Nov 24: All the Supervisors of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) of the Social Welfare Department across Jammu region are without salary for the last over six months.
In a meeting of the Supervisors held under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Social Welfare / Mission ICDS Non-Gazetted Employees Association (Jammu province), the speakers expressed serious concern over the matter and alleged that employees and their families have been left to face starvation.
They said the salaried class people are dependent only on the monthly pay they are getting from the office. But denying them their hard earned wages, is a criminal act. They said that they and their families are facing lot of hardships due to non-release of their wages. It is unfortunate that despite knowing this fact, the higher authorities in the department are unmoved.
The speakers pointed out that ICDS Supervisors are the employees who even have worked 24×7 even in Covid -19 Pandemic and distributed the nutrition to the beneficiaries with the help of Anganwadi Workers/ Helpers at their door steps. They are also working tirelessely for the implementation of all the schemes under ICDS at the ground level. They further stated that they are being made suffer on daily basis and despite being regular employees of the department are treated worse than the daily wagers.
They said the employees working in ICDS sector were hoping that after the department was separated in the year 2014 and brought under separate directorate, things will improve and they will get their salary regularly every month but nothing has changed so far. Moreover, there is worst stagnation at this cadre. There is no promotion since long.
The Association sought the immediate intervention of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha and the Chief Secretary, J&K UT into the matter.
