ICELA demands environmental courts

JAMMU, May 11: Indian Council for Enviro-Legal Action (ICELA), J&K Chapter has demanded establishment of environmental courts, re-constitution of Land Use Board, State Wild Life Board and State Pollution Control Board in the State to protect the environment.
In a brain storming interaction held here today during the celebrations of its 23rd Annual Day, ICELA, J&K Chapter, resolved that to protect the environment, establishing of environment courts is must.
It was also resolved that to protect environment, there is a dire need of imposing restrictions on Unmindful Destruction of forests cover in the name of development, controlling forest fires, closure of brick killens, stone crushers and other dust creating units, constitution of Independent Nodel Agency to coordinate and look after environmental affairs in the State, adequate steps to preserve the lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, springs and other water resources, etc.
