JAMMU, Dec 3: The School of Languages, Central University of Jammu, in collaboration with Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Jammu Kashmir evam Ladakh Prant, conducted a two-week ICSSR-sponsored Capacity Building Programme titled “Incorporating Bhartiya Knowledge Traditions in Teaching and Research: Perspectives, Challenges and Way Forward.”
The programme witnessed participation from across the country. The event began with an enlightening session by Prof Jaya Bhasin, Senior Professor, Department of Human Resource Management, CUJ. She gave an insightful talk on the need of Bhartiyata in social science research projects.
The valedictory address was delivered by Prof Sandeep Kulshreshtha, former Director of IITM, Gwalior and a distinguished Professor in the Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Central University of Himachal Pradesh. He eloquently emphasized the importance of incorporating Bhartiya knowledge traditions into modern education and research. Drawing from his vast experience, he elaborated on how India’s ancient wisdom, particularly in fields such as sustainable development and ethical governance, can serve as a guiding framework for addressing contemporary global challenges.
Prof Yashwant Singh, Registrar CUJ called for extension of this event to local schools and colleges. The Programme Director, Prof Vandana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages, CUJ, shared her experiences of envisioning such an illustrious event. Dr Deepak Kumar, Assistant Professor, New Delhi Institute of Management, presented a detailed report on the programme’s activities and outcomes. Dr Indu Bala, Assistant Professor, Desh Bhagat University, also spoke on the occasion.
The cultural richness of the event was accentuated by a classical music performance by Baibhav Datta, a B Tech student from CUJ. Dalesh Thakur concluded the session with the Kalyan Mantra, ending the event on a spiritual note, while Amisha Negi, University of Delhi, conducted proceedings of the event.
