Idea reduces mobile broadband data tariff

JAMMU, Nov 12: With the objective to attract more broadband users, Idea Cellular, one of  the largest mobile  operators in India has announced revision of  its 2G and 3G data tariff across the country.
Over 33 million existing and new data users on the Idea network can now enjoy reduced data tariffs on their 2G and 3G prepaid  and postpaid handsets  and dongles. The offer will be effective from November 15, 2013  and it will be available for six months. Idea has reduced 2G data tariff by up to 90 percent  across all the 22 circles enabling users to avail 2G data at just 2 paise /10 KB. Network’s 3G users will now be able to save up to 30 % on their monthly data charges as the same tariff will also be available across all 10 Idea 3G Circles including Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal.
A company spokesman said that attractively priced data services  and devices will not only help in faster adoption but will also empower people with the benefits of mobile internet. The revised tariff will also drive more data usage and attract new users. This reduction comes yet another initiative from Idea to offer innovative data product offerings at affordable rates in the Indian telephony market, he added.
