JAMMU, Dec 13: Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone today directed the authorities of Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Mathematical Science (JKIMS), Department of Higher Education to identify the land to set up separate infrastructure for the newly established Mathematical Institute at Jammu. He said it was the dream of the students of Jammu and Kashmir to create and establish such institution in the State .
Addressing the participants during Mathematical Festival 2013 organized by JKIMS in connection with symposium on ‘Information Technology and Mathematics’ held at M A M College, the Minister said that this institute will bring our State on the International Map of Mathematical Research and would be first of its kind.
Secretary, Higher Education Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the activities of the JKIMS.
Dr. Raj Shri Dhar in her welcome address highlighted the importance of the symposium.
Director Colleges Dr. Tariq Ahmad Kawoosa, Principal of MAM College, Principals of different colleges and students of different colleges of the Jammu division participated in a day-long symposium.
Later, Mr. Lone inspected the pace of ongoing works of Girls Hostel and Swimming Pool at MAM College being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.98 crore. He also inspected Auditorium Hall of the College which is nearing completion.
The Minister directed the Executing Agencies Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation, Sports Council and R&B Department to gear up their field functionaries and speed up the pace of work on Girls Hostel, Swimming Pool and Auditorium Hall and complete them in a stipulated time frame. He also asked them to use standard material on these projects and ensure judicious use of funds.
