JAMMU, Mar 17: As a mark of celebrating World Oral Health Day and to spread dental health care awareness in the society, a free dental camp was organized for people in the village Chak Avtara Bishnah here by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Institute of Dental Sciences (IDS) Sehora.
People of different age groups were benefitted from the camp wherein a team of various doctors from the Institute conducted a free oral health check-up along with giving demonstrations on how to brush and presented a small skit depicting essential steps required to take care of their oral health properly.
Dr. Esha Bali, HoD, Public Health Dentistry, emphasised on understanding the significance of dental health care and stressed upon incorporating a healthy balanced diet along with maintaining a proper regular oral hygiene routine for attaining optimal dental health. She said the basic aim of this camp was to highlight the importance of healthy diet, proper oral care routine and also to encourage oneself to get properly educated for attaining a progressive healthy outlook in the society.
Free health packets were distributed by the team amongst all the children attending the camp to motivate them in following a healthy regimen which included oral care hygiene kits, nutritious healthy dietary items such as fruits, milk, healthy snacks etc along with few stationary items to highlight the significance of education, health and nutrition together.
Dr Sarbjeet Singh, Principal said that the Institute of Dental Sciences strives to serve the society in all possible ways and shall always keep doing so in the future as well.
The camp was attended by a team of doctors from IDS Sehora, Jammu including Dr Esha Bali (Reader and Head Public Health Dentistry), various interns of IDS namely Vaidehi, Shantanu, Aashna, Anjum and Akshata along with students of the BDS final year.
In the end, Sarpanch of the village Surjeet Singh urged people to get their dental check-up done.
