IED blast on LoC amid intrusion bid

JAMMU, July 9: Army today foiled another infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) at Nangi Tekri in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district, where a powerful blast rocked without causing any casualties or damage while Army and police today recovered a consignment of arms, ammunition and explosives from Nilman forests in Raigarh area of Ramban district.
Reports said troops observed movement of a group of militants in Nangi Tekri area of Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district at 5.35 am today and opened firing aiming the direction the militants were taking to sneak into this side. The firing continued for about half an hour after which the militants escaped.
Reports said that an IED reportedly planted by the militants while fleeing back to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) after failed infiltration attempt exploded at about 6 am but there were no casualties or damage in the blast.
“The plot hatched by the militants to cause casualties on the Indian side by detonating the IED failed,’’ reports said.
Meanwhile, a joint team of Army and police today recovered a consignment of arms, ammunition and explosives from Balla forests in Raigarh area of Ramban district.
Recoveries included one AK-56 rifles with two magazines, one .303 rifle with one magazine, 57 rounds of 7.62mmn SLR, one Kenwood radio transceiver, one IED circuit, two hand grenade fuses, one solar charging plater and one leather belt for carrying ammunition.
However, no arrests were made from the spot.
