JAMMU, Oct 5: A terrorist hideout was busted in Poonch district, while a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found in Gharota area on the outskirts of Jammu tonight.

The hideout was busted by a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at Jhullas Behra village, leading to the recovery of two hand grenades and some ammunition, the officials said.
They said both the grenades were later destroyed by the experts in a controlled explosion without causing any damage.
In another incident, the officials said a suspected IED with a timer was found near Gharota on the outskirts of Jammu.
Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to the scene and further details are awaited, they said.
The IED was defused late tonight. Police said a major tragedy has been averted with timely detection of the explosive device.
Police said the explosive device was kept in a container and weighed around 1.7 kilograms.
“The explosive was suspected to be kept for a potential terror strike in the area. With timely efforts of JKP and Army, a major tragedy was averted by defusing teh IED,” he added.
