IED recovered on NH destroyed

SRINAGAR, Oct 10:
Security forces averted a major tragedy when they recovered and destroyed an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Baramulla Handwara National Highway in North Kashmir on Thursday.
Officials said suspicious object was found at Thokerpora along the Handwara-Baramulla Highway, leading to the suspension of traffic in the area as a precautionary measure.
They said the area was sealed and a bomb disposal squad was called.
“The suspected object was blasted in a controlled explosion ,” officials said.
Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps said a major terror incident was averted with the recovery of the IED.
“IED Recovered on National Highway near Khangund, Baramulla. ChinarWarriors and @JmuKmrPolice averted a major terror incident today by recovering & destroying an IED on National Highway near Khangund, Baramulla. IndianArmy remains resolute in its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free,” Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
The traffic on the busy highway was later restored. (UNI)
