JAMMU, Dec 14: During a function here today, the Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Jammu center celebrated Energy Conservation Day.
The function was attended by engineers from various departments, organizations and senior engineers along with members of the committee of IEI, Jammu center.
Jagmohan Sharma, Chairman, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd, Power Development Department J&K, Former Executive Director, POWERGRID & Former CEO, Aster Pvt Ltd was chief guest whereas Anil Verma, FIE, Chairman, IEI Jammu center presided over the function.
Anil Verma presented welcome address and laid emphasis on this year’s theme ‘Powering sustainability- Every Watt Counts’ and requested everyone to use power judiciously.
Keynote Address was delivered by Sanjeev Rohmetra, Executive Engineer, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd, Power Development Department- J&K who is also Nodal Officer for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (MBY) for JPDCL.
He presented a detailed scenario of India’s energy demand and continuous growth in contribution of renewal energy resources in meeting the energy needs of the country. Pamphlets of PM Surya Ghar MBY were also got distributed by him amongst the audience.
Jagmohan Sharma, chief guest touched the vital points regarding energy conservation and highlighted the importance of saving every watt of energy for a secure future.
He also advocated for solar power and requested the house to spread this word for improving energy security of the country.
