JAMMU, Sept 15: The 57th Engineers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre at its Institutional complex, here today.
Sandeep Gupta, Chief Administrative Officer, (Northern Railway) USBRL Project J&K was the chief guest while Bimal Kumar Tickoo, former Secretary (technical) cum development commissioner (works) PWD (R&B) J&K was the guest of honour.
Prof Dr Bhawna Sharma (chairman), Sachin Tickoo (honorary secretary of IEI, Jammu Local Centre) and a large numbers of engineers from various departments and organizations attended the function.
Rich tribute to Sir M Visvesvaraya were paid by Vijay Kumar Sharma on behalf of IEI Jammu Local Centre in which he highlighted the sterling qualities of Sir M Visvesvaraya like austerity, integrity, competence and discipline. Earlier, in her welcome address, Prof Bhawna Sharma underscored the pivotal role of engineering in solving global challenges.
Further, on this occasion A K Nagpal, former Cchairman, IE (India), Jammu Local Centre was honoured with IEI Award for his outstanding services rendered to the engineering profession and to the Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre. He was presented with a Gold Medallion as a mark of respect.
IEI Jammu also presented R L Sharma Memorial Gold Medal to Joy Ganjoo for presenting the Best Technical Paper, Rudra Bhagwati Silver Medal to B L Rawal for presenting 2nd best technical paper and IEI Bronze Medal to Ranjeev Sawhney for presenting 3rd best technical paper during the year 2023-24.
In addition to this, first issue of 22nd Volume of quarterly IEI Jammu News – Newsletter of Jammu Local Centre was also released by the chief guest and guest of honour in presence of Editorial Board comprising of Prof Bhawna Sharma, Chairman cum Editorial Director, PK Nanda, Anil Verma, Pooja Wazir and Sachin Tickoo.
IEI also honoured Ajay Sharma, PK Nanda, BL Rawal, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Ranjeev Sawhney, Sumil Goyal, Joy Ganjoo, Akash Dusgotra, Anil Kumar and Lovleensh Talwar with mementoes for presenting two or more technical papers during the year 2023 – 2024.
