JAMMU, Oct 3: Jammu local Centre of the Institution of Engineers, India (IEI) celebrated World Habitat Day at Channi Himmat, Jammu by organizing a seminar on the theme “Mind the Gap, Leave No one and Place Behind” in which large number of engineers, professionals and members of the civil society participated.
Er Vinod Sharma (FIE), ex-chairman, IEI Jammu Centre, was the chief guest on the occasion while Er BB Gupta (FIE), former chairman, IEI Jammu, presided over the function.
Seven technical papers on the theme were presented on the occasion by Er SC Thukral (FIE), Er Ajay Sharma (FIE), Er P K Nanda (MIE), Er Ranjeev Sawhney (MIE), Er Sumil Goyal (MIE), Er Joy Ganjoo (Member Technologist) and Er Akash Dusgotra (AMIE).
All the speakers deliberated on the theme in detail regarding providing of habitats to more number of people and the agencies responsible for the construction of housing schemes must plan the new houses scheme so that the maximum number of population is covered. Moreover, one of the speakers also deliberated that the proper facilities should be provided to the people living in slums and small clusters for healthy environment. He also emphasized that the master plan prepared at huge cost should be implemented in full.
The chief guest informed the house that all the stakeholders must work together in an effective and mutually beneficially manner to implement measure for a Carbon free Jammu and Kashmir. He further emphasized to create green zones within Jammu City during implementation of Smart City Mission in Jammu.
Er CP Sharma (MIE), honorary secretary of the Centre, conducted the proceedings of the seminar and presented vote of thanks.
