IETE celebrates Students Day

JAMMU, Feb 4: Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) today celebrated its Students Day in the Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu.
The chief guest on this occasion was Prof Vivek Gupta, Head, Deptt. of Physics and Electronics, JU, who appreciated the efforts of IETE for promoting technical activities for the students.
Earlier, Dr Rakesh Vaid, Chairman IETE, Jammu Centre, introduced the audience to IETE and its activities. He stressed the need of such activities besides formal education.  It is pertinent to mention here that IETE is India’s recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of Science, Technology, Electronics, Telecom and Information Technology. It was founded in 1953 and has more than 69000 members through 61 centres/ sub-centres located in India and three abroad.
Dr Parveen Lehana, Secretary, IETE Jammu Centre, read the message received from the president IETE, New Delhi.
A quiz competition was also conducted for the students. Two students from M Sc Electronics 3rd semester bagged the Ist and second prize.
Programme was attended by large number of students, research scholars, and faculty members from the department.
