JAMMU, Feb 1: Institution of Electronics and Telecommu-nication Engineers (IETE), Jammu Centre, today celebrated its Students Day, in collaboration with Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu.
In his inaugural address, Prof Vivek Gupta, Head Department of Physics and Electronics JU, appreciated the efforts of the IETE Jammu centre in promoting such academic activities and further suggested to organize such students related programmes in future also.
Dr Rakesh Vaid, Chairman IETE Jammu Centre, in his address, introduced IETE and threw light on the various initiatives taken by IETE Jammu Centre, such as skill development, digital and make in India etc. He further stressed the need of strengthening the manufacturing sector, particularly in the area of Electronics.
Dr Parveen Lehana, Honorary Secretary of the IETE Jammu centre, read the message received from the president IETE New Delhi. A quiz competition was also held and prizes were distributed among the winners.
Roshni Gupta won the 1st prize while Richa Gupta and Deepika Jamwal won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. Joy Ganjoo, Prof Pawnesh Abrol and Dr Susheel Sharma also spoke on this occasion. The programme was conducted by UGC teacher fellow and senior IETE member, Prof. Romilla Malla Bhat.
Prominent among those present, were Dr Rockey Gupta, Sandeep Arya, Anju Gupta and Deep Kumar besides many student members of IETE, research scholars and students of 4th semester M.Sc. Electronics from the Department of Physics and Electronics.
