JAMMU/DODA, Oct 13: Claiming that outcome of every election has a hidden message from the public, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has said that the recently held Lok Sabha elections in the country have made it clear that the Indian public has rejected the way PM Modi was leading the nation and has stopped BJP at 240 mark only while PM Modi during his campaigns voiced confidence for more than 400 seats for the saffron party.

“Election is the only occasion when people express their feelings as for other five years of the elected Government they remain unable to say anything and the Lok Sabha 2024 elections had a clear signal for PM Modi to change his ways and start working for public welfare as the public has given him one more chance to rule the nation, though in form of a coalition,” Kejriwal maintained adding if still Modi led government failed to deliver, next time the BJP will not cross the mark of 140 in Lok Sabha elections.”

The AAP supremo was on his maiden visit to J&K and was addressing public at jam-packed sports stadium Doda after his party candidate Mehraj Malik won as an MLA from Doda constituency. However, the media entry to the stadium was restricted.
Kejriwal said: “With revolutionary steps we answered to the established rulers that meaning of governance is not corruption or browbeating but to work, serve and bring changes in the life of people.”
He said that public of our country has two powers of which one is the power to vote which Baba Sahib B.R Ambedkar has given to all the Indians.
“Using this power of vote we can change government or make a government of our own choice and if we don’t like it, we can also change it next time,” the former Delhi CM said adding: “Next power with the people of this country is the power of education but biggest hindrance for this is poverty.”
Kejriwal said that poor people have no money so they send their children to government schools where the scenario remains very poor.
“We filled this gap and improved the government schools in Delhi. Now Delhi schools give you better education irrespective of one being poor or rich,” he continued.
He said that he will request Manish Sisodia, former Education Minister of Delhi UT to visit Doda after the formation of government in J&K so that he may guide in improving Doda schools.
Kejriwal further said that National Conference (NC) leader, Omar Abdullah will become CM in few days and he will be yet another CM of INDI Alliance.
“We will fully cooperate with him. Delhi is called half State as there are very limited powers with the elected government. Now they have made J&K also a half State as here also the elected government has very limited powers and Lieutenant Governor (LG) enjoys most powers in Delhi as well as in J&K,” he continued.
The AAP chief said that he had run government in Delhi and based on that experience assured all help to Omar if he needs to run the half State J&K.
Voicing for Ministerial berth to the newly elected MLA Doda, Kejriwal said: “As AAP supports Omar’s government, I feel Mehraj might be given some responsibility for not only serving the people of Doda but also those of the entire J&K.”
Addressing the mammoth gathering, he said that he has travelled from Delhi to Doda to say thanks to the people of Doda for creating history by voting the AAP MLA to victory.
“For changing the fate of J&K, you have done a great job by supporting Mehraj Malik and by posing your trust on AAP you have ensured better future for your children,” Kejriwal said adding: “You have not only sown the seed of AAP in Doda but also for a new type of politics as AAP is not a party but a name for a new ideology.”
The former CM of Delhi further said that AAP makes good schools, good hospitals, gives good education to the children of poor people, improves Government schools, power scenario and gives free electricity.
“For the last 75 years, you have seen many political parties, now tell me which party has assured you good school for your children in return for votes,” he said adding: “It is only AAP which gives good hospitals, employment and ensures other welfare measures on winning election and only such things makes AAP different from other political parties.”
Arvind Kejriwal said that there are no good hospitals, no good schools and no good roads in Doda and electricity in J&K is very costly.
“We want development of Doda and J&K and I am proud of Mehraj as he is not living like religious hardliners but for solving public issues of electricity, better schools etc,” he continued.
The AAP chief said that when he came to know about the struggle of 12 years by Mehraj Malik during which he served and helped the poor and the needy before becoming an MLA, he found a Kejriwal in him.
“I left the job of Income Tax Commissioner in the year 2000 to serve the poor people living in shanties of Delhi and like Malik I too had no ancestor in politics,” he maintained, adding that he neither had any bank balance nor a home despite remaining CM of Delhi for 10 years.
“In 2013, when for the first time AAP contested elections in Delhi, people trusted a crazy person like me and gave me the responsibility of Delhi and now people of Doda have also trusted a crazy man by giving him a big responsibility,” he said referring to Malik.
Kejriwal further said that when they started agitation against corruption in 2012-13, all the political parties used to laugh at them saying that no government can survive without corruption which is as compulsory as spending money in elections.
“In the last 10 years, we showed to them how elections are contested and won by honesty and how Government is run by honest deeds,” he said.
Bhagwant Maan, Punjab Chief Minister while addressing on the occasion said by voting AAP leader to victory, Doda people have moved towards an era of bright future for their children and with this development of J&K will start.
“If politicians of our country would have changed after anti-corruption agitation led by Kejriwal, there would be no need for forming a new party,” he said adding: “As politicians remained cracking jokes on us saying that laws are not made by sitting on roads but by winning elections, now, we have come elected and we ask them to come elected themselves now.”
Maan took a dig at the nominated representatives saying: “You come from this way or that way via Rajya Sabha but this is public and it knows all and the public has the power to take you to the sky and to throw you down on ground also.”
Earlier, Mehraj Malik addressed the gathering and talked about his struggle.
He also took dig at former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and said that when he was Union Health Minister he took the issue of staff shortage and poor facilities at Sub-District Hospital Doda but nothing happened.
He also informed how he went to Delhi with a meagre amount of Rs. 3000 to meet Kejriwal and in return he spent Rs. 1500 to buy caps and pamphlets but people of Doda took him as crazy as Delhi was no match with mountainous Doda district.
Malik claimed that PM Modi starts road projects in Doda with Union Home Minister, Amit Shah as his contractor who further sublets the work to others in BJP at local level.
