JAMMU, Oct 19: The Contractors of Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department, Jammu today held a sit-in protest and demanded release of payments for the works done by them.
The protest was held under the aegis of I&FC Contractors’ Association, Jammu in front of Irrigation Complex, Canal Road, Jammu. A large number of contractors registered with the department participated in the protest and raised slogans against the authorities. The protest was led by vice-president of the Association, Mukesh Singh and secretary, Rajkumar.

They demanded the authorities to release their payments for work done by them in last seven years under AIBP, SDRF, desilting and languishing projects of all canals in Jammu. The contractors decided that no work will be taken in hands till all their claims are settled and even a single contractor will not participate in e-tendering process of the I&FC Department.
