Srinagar, Aug 25: After being pulled out of Gilsar Lake, the Irrigation and Flood Control’s (I&FC) Water Master has been brought back for cleaning after the passage of 5 days.
The locals said that as promised by the Superintending Engineer, the machine has been brought back to the lake for the cleaning process that was ongoing to continue at full speed.
“We had resented the move of pulling out the machine earlier, but the concerned officials promised that it will be brought back soon, and today the machine has reached back in accordance to the promise that was made,” the locals said.
The Lake is currently being cleaned by the concerned departments and was taken up soon after the NLCO took up the work of cleaning the adjoining Khushal Sar. The Divisional Administrations as well as the NLCO along with the concerned departments are being hailed for taking pains of cleaning the water bodies that were almost dead.
However, the locals raised the issue of dredging which they said is the key to the restoration of these water bodies, while also raising the issue of the gate near Gilsar which they said is the major concern
The locals demanded the immediate installation of iron mesh near the Gate so that if the gates are opened, solid waste does not enter the Lake.
