IGGDC Jammu hosts white coat ceremony

JAMMU, Nov 27: Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) jammu today hosted white coat ceremony and orientation program for BDS and MDS freshers’ batch 2024-25 in the College auditorium.
Dr Praveen Akhtar Lone, Principal and Dean IGGDC, welcomed chief guest of the occasion, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary Health and Medical Education, J&K. She welcomed the new batch of BDS and MDS students. A total of students 62 BDS and 14 MDS students of the 2024 batch of IGGDC were welcomed into the dental fraternity by all the HoDs. White coat ceremony was followed by oath taking.
Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, speaking on the occasion said, being a dental student is a life changing event. He said the two most important attributes to be a doctor are intelligence and hard work. He guided the students to focus on discipline and career with time bound targets.
Advocate Munish Chopra, speaker of the day, spoke on ethical values to be carried out throughout the course. He further introduced the functions of anti-ragging committees and squad.
Dr Reecha Gupta, Prof & HoD, convened the program. The event concluded with National Anthem.
