Ignored by Govt, villagers start repairs of road

KATHUA, June 30: Being disappointed after ignored by concerned authorities and public representatives, the inhabitants of village Niali of Panchayat Dhamlar took an initiative to repair the village tractor road to maintain the prestige of village as guests from different areas had to attend the marriage function in the village.
The inhabitants started repairing of road themselves when there was a marriage function in the family of Ex -Serviceman, Pritam Singh of Niali and numbers of relatives and friends were reaching to village to attend the function.
As it was challenge before the villagers that the village road is damaged due to heavy rainfall in just few days back. In such circumstances how could guests reach there. The villagers convened a meeting and decided to repair it to make it a motorable road.
The villagers Pritam Singh and Mohinder Singh said that they approached to concerned authorities and also Panchyati Raj representatives to repair the road. They got fake promises and long waiting proposal.
Ultimately the villagers were forced to repair the link road from Dhamlar to Niali which was a length of three kms.
Yoginder Singh a local leader said that the present Government is only making tall promises at the time of election but nothing on the ground is seen.
Most of the villagers are facing bad situation and are being ignored on one pretext or another. The group of youth who did social service to repair the road included Manjeet Singh, Surinder Singh, Vijay Singh, Yashpal Singh, Rahul Singh, Aman Singh, Amit Singh ,Mukesh Singh ,Rohit Singh and Mohit Singh. They also criticized the administration.
