JAMMU, Dec 17: Fed up with the false promises by public representatives, political leaders, bureaucrats and Block Development Officer Kathua, the residents of village Mankay Talab which is just three kilometers from district headquarters and Block Development Office Kathua, the inhabitants of the village took an initiative themselves to construct the lanes and drains of the village.
The people of the village led by prominent citizen Ram Krishan started collection from the villagers to construct the lanes and drains on their own initiative. They started the construction of lanes and drains in the village which were in worst condition as the authorities had ignored this village entirely.
Showing a spirit of selfless service, the villagers including men and women took part in construction work. The prominent citizens Ram Krishan and Mohan Lal said “we have approached several times to concerned authorities for last 20 years but no one took interest in solving our problem. So fed up with the attitude of the authorities as well as public representatives we took up an initiative on our own and started the work”, they added.
