LEH, Sept 18: After announcement of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Devel-opment Council (LAHDC) Leh the people of Nubra valley especially the Turtuk have been deprived of their representation in the said Council.
The Government has announced names of four Councilors from Leh constituency only and no single representation has been given to the people of Nubra valley.
Nine Panchs and Sarpanchs of Turtuk have condemned this act of Government. In a statement the Panchs and Sarpanchs of the Nubra valley have said, “We the residents of Nubra valley, and Turtuk in particular, strongly condemn the Government for ignoring the region for allotting the seat of nominated Councilor of LAHDC Leh”.
“We show our strong resentment to this attitude of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Tsering Dorjey Minister of Ladakh Affairs”. The statement said.
Talking on Phone from Leh Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) LAHDC said that there is no such resentment in Nubra valley. “We already have representative from Nubra in Council”, he said.
“The PDP People were expecting something and that’s their resentment otherwise our BJP have no issue with the nominations”, he added.
While on other hand speaking on phone Congress MLA from Nubra Deldan Namgyal has termed it as very unfortunate as the people of Nubra and particularly the people of “Tyakshi” and “Turtuk” are deprived from representation. He said that the nomination has been given to the “people who are living in the urban area of Leh district and not the people who are living in the rural areas”, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that recently the Government announced four nominated Councilors, name which has been widely criticized by the locals.
