JAMMU, Jan 12: Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum has lambasted the IGNOU authorities for cancellation of two papers of B Ed examination, which were conducted on January 7 and 8 and thus creating trouble for the teachers of J&K pursuing B Ed through IGNOU under SAMAGRA initiative.
“ IGNOU Jammu had uploaded the datesheet/hall tickets only three days before the commencement of B Ed examination which was utter surprising for the pupil teachers who were going to appear for the B Ed examination,” said Ganesh Khajuria, Chairman JKTF, while address a press conference, here today.
Moreover, he added, due to the non-functioning of internet facilities in the Union Territory, teachers were unable to download their hall tickets. “Even they came to know about the examination from their friends/relatives who are residing outside J&K.” he said and further added that the examination center were set up at a long distance, not less than 300-400 km and the teachers suffered a lot due to non-availability of accommodation.
“Somehow, to save their career, these pupil teachers reached their examination centers and gave their exam which were conducted smoothly in a transparent and conducive manner under the District administration, DIETs , CEOs and moreover, higher authorities of IGNOU from Delhi. Even as there was no complaint of any kind anywhere, these teachers were shocked when they received a SMS from the IGNOU authorities that their examination in two courses viz. BES-128 and BES-129 held on 7th and 8th January, 2020 respectively have been cancelled unilaterally,” said Ganesh Khajuria.
The Forum demanded the reconsideration of the decision taken by the IGNOU authorities within week’s time otherwise the teachers will be forced to come on the roads and will also not hesitate to opt for the legal course to secure justice against the arbitrary decision of the IGNOU authorities.
Those who were present in the press conference included Jamayat Ali Agha, Kuldeep Singh Bandral, Kuldeel Verma, Shanti Saroop Thoker Bashir, P D Singh and others.
Meanwhile, JKRETTF has also resented the cancellation of two B Ed papers and said that the IGNOU decision was unacceptable, “The university authorities must review the decision of cancelling the said papers. Even if there was any problem with respect to the exams in any center, why the papers of all the centers were cancelled?” said F A Tantray and sought intervention of SAMGRA authorities into the matter.
