SRINAGAR, July 6: Regional Director IGNOU Srinagar Dr A H Rizvi visited the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Srinagar for the inspection and checking the feasibility for the establishment of an IGNOU Study Centre which will offer PG in Rehabilitation Psychology programme.
This visit marks a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities in the field of psychology in the region. MoU has already been signed between IGNOU New Delhi and Rehabilitation Council of India for launching of the PG in Rehabilitation Psychology programme throughout the country for July 2024 admission cycle. Composite Regional Centre Srinagar will be one of the study centres of IGNOU throughout the country where the programme can be started.
During the visit to the centre, Dr Rizvi engaged in constructive discussions with Director, Dr Jitendra Sharma, Regional Director I/c Dr Rohnika Sharma, faculty members and other administration staff of CRC to assess the feasibility and requirements for setting up the Study Centre. The discussions focused on aligning the PG in Rehabilitation Psychology programme with local educational needs and ensuring the availability of necessary infrastructure and resources.
During the visit, Dr Rizvi evaluated the existing infrastructure at CRC Srinagar, including classrooms and laboratory facilities to ensure they meet the requirements for delivering programme effectively.
Dr Rizvi expressed optimism about the potential of the collaboration between IGNOU and CRC Srinagar in expanding access to quality education in rehabilitation psychology programme. The establishment of the IGNOU Study Centre at CRC Srinagar is expected to cater to the growing demand for rehabilitation psychology education and contribute significantly to the development of skilled professionals in the field.

MoU was signed yesterday between Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar and Dr Rohnika Sharma, Incharge Regional Director, Composite Regional Centre Srinagar in presence of Dr Jitendra Sharma, Director DEPD, Government of India, New Delhi and Dr Zaffar Iqbal for establishment of IGNOU Study Centre for programme PG Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology at Composite Regional Centre Bemina, Srinagar.
