IGP for coordinated efforts to thwart nefarious designs of anti-national elements

JAMMU, Aug 12: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Danesh Rana asked the officers for effective and coordinated efforts at gross root level to thwart the nefarious designs of anti-national elements (ANEs).
He said this while reviewing security arrangements for the forthcoming Independence Day.
IGP took stock of the security measures planned for the forthcoming Independence Day from SSP Jammu, Samba and Kathua and officers of other wings like Traffic, CID, Security and other stake holders. He also took briefing from the intelligence agencies regarding security threat on Independence Day celebration, present security scenario and development across the IB and LoC.
In view of the recent Fidayeen attacks on BSF Convoy on NHW in district Udhampur, IGP stressed upon all the officers to ensure utmost alertness at all the places of functions.
He also directed district SSPs to activate VDC members as well as District Special Branch (DSB) personnel and other resources/sources available with them to generate intelligence having direct bearing on Independence Day celebrations in advance to thwart nefarious deigns of anti-national and anti-social elements.
IGP also stressed upon district SSPs to review the security of all vital installations, religious places, minority pockets and Police/PMF establishment and ensure utmost alertness.
He emphasized upon the SSP Traffic to ensure that adequate traffic arrangements are made for parking of vehicles and routes be identified on the eve of Independence Day celebrations.
He also stressed that all routes leading to cities from border areas be plugged and extra vigil be maintained in the wee hours.
Rana also stressed upon the SSP Samba, Kathua and Jammu to lay Joint Nakas/patrolling on all the infiltration routes. Night Patrolling on National Highway be conducted and a close liaison be maintained with all forces deployed in their respective area.
