IGP highlights importance of community policing

SAMBA, May 20:  To reduce the gap between general public and police, a meeting was held at Nandini Hills here today.
MLA Yash Pal Kundal, prominent citizens, representatives of Beopar Mandals and Industrial Associations attended the meeting,  which was was chaired by Rajesh Yadav, IGP Jammu Zone. S A Beig, DIG JK Range, Israr Khan, SSP Samba, R K Varma, DC Samba and Dr Koshal Sharma, Additional SP Samba also attended the meeting.
IGP Jammu heard the problems highlighted by all the participants and assured full co-operation. He also assured  action against the anti social elements, drug peddlers, eve teasers, traffic violators, bovine smugglers and other organized crimes on priority.
The thrust of the meet was to prevent crime, reduce conflict and give a sense of involvement to the common man. The participants were exhorted to help police in eradicating the social evils of the society by way of sharing correct and timely information.
IGP also highlighted that the community policing will help people as well as the police to come close and solve their problems at the grass root level.
