JAMMU, Mar 22: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, today chaired the monthly Zonal Crime Review Meeting to assess crime trends and strategize on improving law enforcement across the region.
The meeting, held at the Zonal Police Headquarters in Jammu, was attended by senior police officials including Range DIsG, District SSsP, SSP Special Operations & Trainings, SP Operations, and officers from various departments.
During the meeting, the IGP Jammu stressed the importance of focusing on dismantling drug networks.
He instructed district SSsP to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to drug peddling, increase patrolling in drug-prone areas, and disrupt the supply chain by targeting organized drug networks.
Officers were also urged to strictly enforce the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and ensure swift legal action against repeat offenders.
A key point of discussion was the incorporation of technology in crime detection. Officers were encouraged to use digital forensics and AI-driven crime mapping to improve investigations and make policing more efficient.
Additionally, the IGP emphasized the need for timely investigations, particularly for cases involving women, children, and vulnerable groups.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of new criminal laws, such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).
IG Crime, Sunil Gupta, highlighted the importance of training officers to adapt to these new laws and integrate them into the investigation process to ensure effective legal proceedings.
The meeting concluded with a speech from the Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Nalin Prabhat, who stressed the need to improve conviction rates, enhance operational preparedness, and adopt intelligence-driven policing.
He called for swift legal action and better management of crime investigations to strengthen security across Jammu and Kashmir.
