IGP Jammu inspects operational preparedness of SOG in JSK Range

JAMMU, Feb 18: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, today conducted an inspection of the operational preparedness of the Special Operations Group (SOG) in the Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range.
A statement said that the visit aimed at reviewing security arrangements and border management measures.
During the inspection, the IGP also assessed late-night alertness concerning the border management grid in the regions of Kathua, Samba, and Jammu, including critical areas like BPP Sherpur, Babber Nallah, Mawa, Pangdour, and Nandpur.
Joint security checkpoints involving the Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Police were also thoroughly checked.
The IGP visited infiltration routes in Ujh, Basantar, Saharkhad, Tarnah Nallah, and Bein Nallah, ensuring that these areas are adequately monitored.
Furthermore, the security at National Highways Quick Reaction Teams (NHWs QRTs) and checkpoints at Londi Morh were reviewed.
A security coordination meeting was held at the Billawar Police Station, where the IGP discussed various security issues with representatives from the Army, CRPF, SOG, and senior police officers, including SPs and SDPOs of Billawar.
On his return journey, the IGP also inspected the Ring Road area in Samba-Jammu late at night to assess the security situation.
The IGP was accompanied by senior officers, including DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP Kathua Shobit Saxena, SP Operations Jammu Kameshwar Puri, and SSP Special Operations and Training Vikrant Prashar.
Meanwhile, the IGP Jammu also reviewed the security at key strategic locations, including Railway Stations Katra, Reasi, Sangaldhan, and Kori Bridge.
Accompanied by DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DIG DKR Range Shridhar Patil, SSP Railways Katra, Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, SSP Ramban, Kulbir Singh, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, the IGP reviewed existing security measures, law enforcement deployment, surveillance systems, anti-sabotage preparedness to counter any potential threats.
At Chenab Railway Bridge in Kori, the IGP directed officers to enhance security around the bridge and ensure effective coordination with Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Emphasizing the importance of proactive policing and intelligence gathering, the IGP directed officials to enhance vigilance, strengthen security checks, and ensure seamless coordination between police, railway authorities, and other security forces.
“Continuous monitoring and enhanced security measures will remain a priority to ensure the safety of passengers, residents, and critical infrastructure”, added the IGP.
