IGP Jammu reviews preparedness for VVIP visit, Navratras in Katra

KATRA, Oct 11: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, conducted a thorough review of preparedness for an upcoming VVIP visit and the Navratras festival in the holy town of Katra.
The IGP was joined by Sunil Gupta, DIG DKR Range, who also oversees the Udhampur-Reasi (UR) Range, along with Amit Gupta, SSP Reasi, and Vipan Chandran, Additional SP Katra.
The IGP chaired separate meetings with police officers in Katra and at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. During these meetings, he stressed the need for heightened vigilance, especially due to the President of India’s impending visit to Katra.
The IGP urged both officers and jawans to prioritize security measures, keeping in mind the upcoming Navratras festival in 2023.
Additionally, the IGP personally inspected various locations, including Katra town, helipads, the venue of the VVIP event, and key checking/frisking points starting from Moori.
He directed DIG DKR Range, Sunil Gupta, to bolster these points by deploying additional manpower for the VVIP visit.
The IGP’s visit also included stops at Police Station Bhawan and Police Station Katra, where he engaged in constructive discussions with officials and staff members.
These interactions allowed for the exchange of valuable insights and addressed any concerns, with a particular emphasis on ensuring the overall safety and security of the region.
