LADAKH, Apr 8: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Union Territory of Ladakh Satish Khandare today visited KBR Airport and Chushot cantonment area to review the security arrangements.
He was accompanied by IG ITBP Deepam Seth and SSP Leh Sargun Shukla.
At KBR Airport, a review meeting was held by the IGP to check the existing arrangements in place for screening and information gathering of incoming passengers.
Satish Khandare along with Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas and other officers also reviewed the holding capacity of passengers at the arrival, departure and security hold areas to ensure proper social distancing and avoid crowding during the operational hours at the airport when the flights will resume. It was also decided that 4 additional screening and information gathering centres will be established at the airport besides the already existing 6 Centres.
GOC Leh Sub Area Major General VM Chandran, AOC Subroto Kundu, Director Airport Sonam Nurboo and DySP Anti Hijacking Leh Aslam Mir were also present at the meeting at the airport.
At Chushot, the IGP along with IG ITBP were briefed by SSP Leh regarding the security arrangements in place at the cantonment areas.
Khandare also interacted with the nambardars and local representatives of Gongma Chushot and also enquired about their well being and requirements at Khomeini Chowk.
IGP also checked the guards and interacted with the jawans present at the guard posts.
Joint Deputy Director ITBF Ashish Kumar Singh, Commandant Staff, Sector HQ ITBP Siddharth Kumar, Stanzin Losal SP CID, Second in Command Ops ITBP Rajesh Sawhney, DySP Headquarters Leh Ishtyaq A Kacho, DySP Traffic Rigzin Sangdup and officers of Police and ITBP were also present on the occasion.
