IGP lays stress on effective, co-ordinated efforts for smooth conduct of function

JAMMU, Jan 6: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Danesh Rana stressed upon all the officers for effective and co-ordinated efforts at gross root level for smooth conduct of the Republic Day function.
He stated this during a meeting of all the stake holders to discuss the security arrangements required for the celebration of Republic Day.
Danesh Rana stressed upon all the officers that proper briefing should be given to the officers/ officials deployed for Republic Day duties in view of the recent Fidayeen attack on Pathankot and last year ceasefire violations from across the border.
He further stressed that adequate security arrangements should be made in and around the venue of Republic Day function which is to be organized at MA Stadium Jammu. He advised census of the inhabitants residing in and around the stadium, checking of hotels and other lodgments to be under taken on priority. Joint nakas at selected places should be established so that no anti national elements could sneak in the city, he added.
IGP further directed all the intelligence agencies including SSP Jammu Uttam Chand to activate their all resources available with them to generate intelligence having bearing on Republic Day in advance so that anti-national and anti-social elements could not succeed in their nefarious designs.
He stated that traffic arrangements should be made in such a manner that general public may not feel any inconvenience.
On the border management front, IGP Jammu Zone, stressed upon the DIG JSK Range and District SSP Jammu to lay joint nakas on all the infiltration routes. “Night Patrolling on National Highway should be conducted”, he said, and directed DIG JSK Range and SSP CID CI Jammu to mobilize their all resources particularly in border areas for collection of intelligence to prevent infiltration from across the border. All Border Police Stations, Police Posts and VDCs should be strengthened and proper briefing should be given to them by supervisory offices on daily basis regarding nature/importance of duties to be performed by them.
