IGP SHRC, SKUAST-J, JUTA delegations call on Governor

JAMMU, Mar 3: Mukesh Singh, recently posted as IGP, J&K State Human Rights Commission, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at Raj Bhavan today. This was his first meeting with the Governor, after completion of tenure of central deputation and return to the State.
The Governor stressed the vital importance of ensuring the effective protection of human rights. He also emphasised the need for enhancing awareness, about fundamental and human rights among the people, particularly among women and the underprivileged and weaker sections of the society.
A delegation of Teachers Association of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology- Jammu, led by its President, Dr Narinder Singh, called on Governor.
The delegation informed the Governor that there had been no promotions of teachers since April 2012, the Revised Guidelines for appointment of teachers and Career Advancement Scheme were not being implemented and there was no transfer policy in the University etc. They also sought enhancement in the retirement age of academics to 62 years.
The Governor informed the delegation that all their genuine demands will be duly taken care of and urged them to work with dedication and zeal to make SKUAST-J, a centre of excellence.
A delegation of Jammu University Teachers Association, led by Prof. Daleep Singh Jamwal, President, JUTA urged the Governor’s intervention for the enhancement of superannuation age of teachers from 60 to 65 years, payment of the remainder 6th Pay Commission arrears in one go, and implementation of UGC Regulation -2013.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that all their genuine demands shall be duly looked after. He advised the academics to soundly and effectively put in their best efforts for making Jammu University an institution of excellence.
The delegation comprised Dr. Vishav Raksha, Vice-President, Dr. Virender Koundal, General Secretary, Dr. Vivek Sharma, Joint Secretary and Sandeep Arya, Treasurer of JUTA.
