IGP tours Poonch, inaugurates Police Reception Centre

POONCH, May 13: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana accompanied by Ashok Atri, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, conducted a tour of the district and inaugurated a Police Reception Centre at ISO certified police station Poonch with an aim to provide first hand information to public regarding various public delivery services conducted by the police like disposal of verifications, complaints, etc.
The IGP also inaugurated a one-day medical camp at District Police Line (DPL) in which 278 police personnel were examined by a team of doctors from District Hospital on the initiative of SSP Poonch and CMO Poonch.
Thereafter, the IGP held a darbar of police personnel at DPL and listened to various issues including enhancement of honorarium of SPOs, quota in police recruitment for the wards of serving or retired police personnel, projected by the police personnel. In response, the IGP informed the police personnel that most of the projections are already under active consideration of higher authorities as well as Central and State Government while other grievances will be addressed as early as possible.
While addressing the police personnel, the IGP complimented the good work done by police personnel of the district in handling various law and order issues, anti-militancy front and rescue and evacuation of the civilians trapped near slide prone areas during recent flash floods. He also impressed upon the police personnel to work with sincerity and dedication and maintain good police-public relations.
AK Atri also spoke on the occasion and discussed various issues related to the welfare of police personnel.
Earlier, in his welcome address, SSP Poonch, Jatinder Singh Johar highlighted the achievements of district police in maintaining law and order and other areas.
The IGP along with other police officers also held interaction with prominent citizens at Dak Bungalow Poonch and assured the citizens for effective and professional policing, improved police-public relations and strict action against persons involved in narcotics trade.
ASP Poonch, Amit Gupta, Deputy SP Hqs, Mujeeb-Ul-Rehman, SDPO Mendhar, Surinder Kumar, Deputy SP (Ops), Sheezan Bhat, Deputy SP CDB, Sagar Singh Slathia, Deputy SP Surankote, Reyaz Tantray, NGOs and other ranks were present on the occasion.
