JAMMU, Nov 30: M Suleman Choudhary, IGP Traffic J&K, today chaired a meeting with senior traffic officers in Jammu to discuss the current traffic situation in the city.
The meeting was attended by the SSP Traffic City Jammu, Additional SP Traffic City Jammu, DSP Traffic North, South & Rural, and all DTIs of Traffic city Jammu.
The IGP Traffic J&K reviewed feedback on major traffic congestion points and their causes.
He directed officers to conduct a detailed study of traffic patterns, particularly during peak hours, and adjust traffic regulations accordingly in their areas.
In addition, the police officer emphasized the need for special enforcement drives targeting underage drivers and those driving under the influence of alcohol.
He urged officers to use electronic gadgets such as speed radar guns and breath analyzers and to deploy interceptor vehicles to enforce traffic rules more strictly.
Officers were also instructed to maintain a visible presence on the roads during peak hours to ensure safety.
The IGP Traffic J&K also highlighted the importance of maintaining professionalism and courtesy while dealing with the public during enforcement activities, aiming to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and citizens.
Looking ahead, the IGP stressed the need to prepare for the upcoming winter season, which will see an increase in traffic, especially from the Kashmir Valley, DKR (Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban), and Poonch-Rajouri regions.
He instructed officers to be ready to manage the expected surge in vehicles and people.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and address congestion through coordinated efforts and proactive strategies.
