This gives me immense pleasure to write that Daily Excelsior has rendered tremendous service to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in particular by highlighting various problems concerning all sections of people. This letter has reference to Dr V S Verma’s write-up on Vridh Ashram Jammu. High Court of J&K has very aptly treated the article published in this newspaper as PIL considering the miserable conditions faced by the homeless elders housed in the Vridh Ashram. Right to live a comfortable and dignified life is the fundamental right of every citizen of the country. High Court being the highest constitutional judicial authority of the State has very rightly swung into action for endeavouring to secure the standard of living of the ever ignored persons of the society on 9th of April 2013. Satya Pal Saraf, founder  and organizer of Vikland Chhatra Trust Akhnoor needs special ‘kudos’ for making a prompt action in forwarding the above said article to the Chief Justice for treating the same as PIL in the interests of senior citizens for whom the Government has shown to interest to ameliorate their plight.
