Sir,
Refer news item “MLA injured…” in D.E. dated Feb 12. It is not for the first time that unruly behaviour has been shown by the MLAs in the ongoing session but this time all the principles of decency, co-operation, consensus and good behaviour have been by passed beyond limits when the members of different parties came to brass to the extent that a member got injured who was later taken to hospital for treatment. Not to speak of using unparliamentary language, the members want to the extent of changing abuses and blows which even the men in the street would not like. What would masses learn from such wrangling in the assembly which costs a hefty amount of money borne out by the hapless people by way of paying taxes. Instead of taking decision for the welfare of masses and passing laws for overall development and progress of the State, the members of the State assembly behave in an unruly manner so much so that the speaker feels constrained to stop the proceedings of the assembly.
After all the members happen to be veterans in the political field. They should give preference to the demands of the people rather than remaining at loggerheads with one another. The legislative process is really incomplete without the vibrant role of the opposition which is the main aim of democratic setup. But the role of the opposite parties should be scientific and constructive so that all the problems get solved amicably to the extreme benefit of the masses. Now it is up to the members of the assembly to carry on the business without any hitch which is the spirit of the real democracy. Let us see how far they succeed in this crucial matter so that the assembly proceedings do not get stalled. Let us hope for the best.
Yours etc…
