JAMMU, Sept 26: The 79th foundation day of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the autonomous R&D organization under Department of Science & Technology, Government of India founded way back in 1942, was celebrated here today at the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) Jammu.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration was held virtually which was largely attended by eminent scientists, faculty members and research scholars.
Dr Nilima Kshirsagar, Chairperson FDC Subcommittee, Emeritus Scientist ICMR, Secretary General Clinical Pharmacology IUPHAR, who was chief guest of the function, delivered foundation day lecture entitled, “Drug Discovery Development-Dismantled”.
Earlier Dr D Srinivasa Reddy, Director IIIM Jammu in his welcome address described Dr Nilima as a leading scientist of India who played a major role in the modern and phyto-pharmaceutical drugs development. Dr Reddy further said that Dr Nilima Kshirsagar has her work published in the journals of very high impact and she is the chairperson of various apex bodies of research and clinical development.
On the occasion, the prizes for different activities like essay writing competition and axiom writing competition conducted as part of foundation day celebrations were also distributed. The staff members who have superannuated from the council service during last one year were also honoured on the occasion.
The scholarship for wards of Council employees who secured more than 90% marks in three science subjects in 12th class was also given. Shaunik Gupta son of Rajesh Gupta, S O (G) who got more than 90% marks in three Science subjects received Rs 3000 as one time scholarship.
Among many others, Rajneesh Anand, Chief Scientist, Dr D M Mondhe, Dr Gurdarshan Singh, Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Dr Anandya Goswami (Senior Principal Scientists) Dr Asha Chaubey, Dr Dhiraj Vyas, Debaraj Mukherjee (Principal Scientists), Pankaj Bahadur, Controller of Administration, Anil Gupta Finance & Accounts Section Officer and Praphul Kumar, Store and Purchase Officer were also present.
Dr Deepika Singh conducted the proceedings while Abdul Rahim, Head PME & IT Divisions presented the vote of thanks.
