IIIM workers call off strike

JAMMU, Apr 24: The contractual workers who were on strike from April 10, against their illegal termination employed in Indian Institute of Integrative Medicines (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research), Canal Road, Jammu called off their strike after an amicable agreement held between the workers’ union and management of IIIM on 23rd of April, 2017.
While addressing the workers Om Parkash, general secretary, State CITU said that continuous struggle against illegal termination of workers has pressurized the management to come on the table for negotiation with the workers’ union and has compelled to agreed the genuine demands of the workers like re-employment of terminated workers, minimum wages, EPF, ESIC etc.
He added that the management agreed to re- employ the workers within one month period as and when budget is sanctioned, enforcement of minimum wages as per Central Government notification, EPF and ESC etc.
