JAMMU, Dec 30: IIT Jammu has been selected to implement the esteemed ‘Scheme for Strengthening of Medical Device Industry’ supported by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals.
This initiative, granted to a select few institutions with exceptional records, highlights IIT Jammu’s prominence in Biosciences and Medical Technology.
The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering will spearhead this program, offering postgraduate programme for the students interested to excel in this domain.
The scheme aims to address critical gaps in education and research in the medical devices sector by fostering excellence in teaching, training and skill development. It strives to produce a technically skilled workforce capable of driving innovation in this multidisciplinary field.
Under this scheme of capacity building and skill development, financial assistance will be provided to IIT Jammu to support advanced-level courses in Med Tech.
These programs will cover life sciences, biotechnology, engineering, pharmacology and related disciplines, with emphasis on emerging areas in medical devices.
This initiative will also create a robust R&D ecosystem, preparing a new generation of professionals to meet the evolving needs of the medical device sector.
