IIT Jammu commemorates Sanskrit Week

JAMMU, Aug 29: In a vibrant and enlightening celebration, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu observed a captivating Sanskrit Week.
The event, a confluence of scholarly insights and cultural enrichment, was organized in partnership with the Sharad Saraf Centre for Ayurveda & Indic Studies, the Centre for Essential Skills, and the Non-Formal Sanskrit Education division of the Central Sanskrit University.
The week-long commemoration from August 23rd showcased the profound significance of the Sanskrit language and its timeless contributions to society.
The culmination of the week-long celebration was marked by an impressive Valedictory Session. The session was graced by the esteemed presence of dignitaries including Madan Mohan Jha, Director from CSU, Ranveer Campus, Jammu; Madan Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor, CSU, Ranveer Campus, Jammu; Professor Rakesh and Professor Manoj Agarwal from IIT Jammu; Assistant Professor Dr Amitash Ojha from Humanities and Social Sciences Department, IIT Jammu; and Dr Srishilan C, IIT Jammu.
The Valedictory Session encompassed a mélange of captivating events including Vedic chanting, a mellifluous welcome song, and enriching talks by eminent personalities.
Madan Mohan Jha delivered an illuminating discourse on ‘Sanskrit & Technology’, shedding light on the language’s timeless relevance in the modern world. Dr Srishilan’s insightful discussion on ‘Sanskrit in our Daily Life’ underscored the language’s profound influence on various aspects of our existence. The session was adorned with a soulful song and culminated in the distribution of certificates to the participants.
Earlier, the event’s was inaugurated on August 23rd marking the beginning of an engaging week. Among the diverse range of activities, a Writing Competition, and a Remembrance Quiz were held, fostering intellectual engagement and knowledge sharing. The days unfolded with thought-provoking sessions and interactive discussions. On the Aug 25, a captivating discourse on the ‘Role of Sanskrit During our Independence Struggle’ illuminated the pivotal role the language played in the nation’s pursuit of freedom. This was followed by a competition on August 26th, where participants showcased their mastery of Sanskrit by reciting soul-stirring shlokas.
The event not only showcased the heritage and richness of the Sanskrit language but also emphasized its enduring relevance in contemporary society.
