POONCH, July 20: The Forest Department fenced the entire area after illegal mutation on nearly 400 kanals of forest land worth crores near Poonch city was cancelled by the Deputy Commissioner Poonch.
Official sources said that continuing its drive against illegal encroachment on forest land, today in presence of Executive Magistrate, Forest Department Poonch along with staff of Social Forestry and Forest Protection Force and Police assistance fenced encroached land of area measuring nearly 400 kanal in Khasra no. 2944 village Qazimohra in peaceful manner. However, there has been little resistance but large number of deployed staff controlled the situation and checked happening of any untoward incidence.
Sources said in record of rights, Khasra no. 2944 village Qazimohra area measuring 650 kanal is recorded as Ghair-Mumkin-Jaar. Social Forestry department had established forest closure in the year 1991-92 on area measuring 20 ha (400 kanal) and planted 12000 species of various kinds.
On July 11, a joint Nishandeyi was conducted by Revenue department & Forest Department and accordingly, an Inspection note was prepared by Forest Department after spot verification. Currently, fencing of Social Forestry of being very old time hence is mostly damaged but there are some well established Forest trees on spot, planted during 1991. Over 522 green trees had been felled by the land grabbers.
Village Qazimorha, Khasra No. 2944 is prime land, located nearer to Poonch city, worth atleast Rs 200 cr as per current market cost. The area is highly encroached in garb of illegal Revenue records. As per information, Plot cutting have happened on many spot in said khasra and much of area was sold.
Staff of Social Forestry & Forest Territorial have acted responsibly and have not allowed any illegal activity or extension of encroachment in said khasra.
Mohan Choudhary, DFO Poonch requested Rahul Yadav Deputy Commissioner Poonch to cancel illegal record on said khasra. On the basis of Revenue report & inspection note, DC Poonch has cancelled illegal records on forest land in Khasra No. 2944 and requisite entry in favour of Forest department has been entered, official sources added.
