Kindly refer to the news item ” 20 lakh kanals of state land under illegal occupation of ”mafia” in the DE dtd.2nd March. In reply to an AQ by one MLA the figure has been made public. It further states that out of this about more than 3 lakh kanals of land has been regularised or transferred in the name of the land occupants under the ‘Roshni Act.’.
On the other hand the refugees of 1947 from POK have been denied land for which they were eligible and as prescribed under quota as per the ‘Allotment of Land To Displaced Persons Rules 1954’. The tragedy is that the Govt. of J&K had already deducted the price of the land to be allotted from their ex-gratia amount sanctioned by GOI in 1960.
Is this ‘a mere injustice’ or ‘a fraud committed’ on the POK Refugees of 1947 by Govt. of J&K ? How could the Govt. justify non-availability of land for allotment to these hapless refugees who had lost all their belongings and sacrificed more than 40000 of their kith and kins during the tribal raid of 1947 on Muzaffarabad, Poonch , Bhimber and Mirpur in the process of accession of our state with Indian Dominion. Or is it that they are being punished for their sacrifice for their nation?
Why the Govt. do not get this land evacuated from the land grabbers and allot the same to the land-less or land deficient refugees?
