Illegal revenue entries on 57344 kanals forest land cancelled

RAJOURI, Oct 5: In a major development, the District Administration Rajouri on the initiative of Divisional Forest authorities Rajouri, cancelled illegal revenue entries on 57,344 kanals of forest land in Rajouri.
Official sources said that Rajouri Forest Division conducted a detailed exercise jointly with Revenue department for identification of persons who had managed to secure illegal revenue entries on forest land. The exercise which was started six months back, involved field officials of both Forest and Revenue Departments, so that such illegal mutations and revenue entries made on forest land often by encroachers are identified and expunged from revenue records enabling Forest department to effectively protect forest land from encroachment.
DFO Rajouri, Dr AD Singh, informed that illegal entries belonging to 1151 persons on 57, 344 Kanals of forest land has been cancelled by the Revenue department till date and the details of same have been conveyed by Revenue officials to the Forest Department. Singh further informed that the process is going on so that all such revenue entries made illegally get expunged from revenue record to prevent their misuse by encroachers to create legal hurdles and stop the illegal possession of forest land by fraudulently means.
Giving more details, DFO said in Rajouri Range alone, 798 persons including some influential people had grabbed 40, 671 kanals of forest land; in Kalakote Range over 12, 414 kanals of forest land by 189 persons while in Kandi (Budhal) Range about 164 persons had encroached nearly 4258 kanals of forest land. The process of identifying such lands grabbed by the people by fraudulent means was still in progress in entire Rajouri district, the officer added.
