BHADERWAH, Aug 10: Forest Department seized illegal timber from a maize field near Dandi and also retrieved 85 kanal of forest land from the encroachers.
An official spokesman said that, a team of forest division Bhaderwah led by Haroon Khan and Shepher Iqbal BO Dandi under the supervision of DFO Bhaderwah TB Singh seized seven scant and two kandels near Dandi. The illegal timber was hidden in the maize fields.
All the seized material was brought to Forest Complex for further investigation.
A case under Section 6 of Forest Act has been registered and hunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
Apart from this, the Forest Department also retrieved 85 kanal of forest land from the possession of encroachers in compartment number 57/N of Neeru Range in Bhaderwah Forest Division.
The land was retrieved by a team of forest officials headed by MS Jamwal, RO Neeru under the supervision of DFO Bhaderwah TB Singh.
