Illegal weapons seized in Afghan

Kabul, July 18 :  The Afghan security forces have seized a variety of arms and ammunition during a series of operations in southwestern Nimroz province, the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) said in a statement on Tuesday.

The confiscated weapons included 107 pistols, 24 assault rifles, and a good quantity of munitions, such as cartridges and bullets, the statement added.

The statement did not mention if anyone had been arrested during the operations.

The Afghan caretaker government, which vowed to collect arms and ammunition from anyone outside the security forces, has discovered and seized thousands of light and heavy weapons including tanks since it took over power of Afghanistan in August 2021.
