Illegally felled Khairwood seized

JAMMU, Mar 28: A Tata Mobile loaded with illegally felled Khairwood was seized in Kalidhar Forest Range, here today.
On the intervening night of March 27-28 around 11:30 PM, team led by the Block Officer Sumah, Akshay Sharma stopped a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02AR- 1612, coming from the side of village Badgal. During the course of checking, Khairwood billets of illegally felled trees and a cutter (petrol chainsaw) was found in the vehicle.
Vehicle along with the stuff etc was seized on the spot by BO Sumah and brought to FRH Akhnoor for initiating further proceedings into the matter.
The whole operation was closely supervised by the Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu Anoop Kumar Soni, who said that Forest Offence Report (FOR) has been registered for confiscation proceedings of illegally felled stuff and asserted that department was committed to keep check on such incidents like illegal felling/smuggling of Forest produce and to safe guard the Forest land.
To keep check over the illegal felling/transportation of Khair, teams led by concerned Block Officers were constituted by the Range Officer Kalidhar Pawan Sharma for carrying out regular night patrolling.
