Illicit liquor, fuel seized; accused nabbed

POONCH, Sept 15: In a major crackdown on illegal trade, a police team from Mandi Police Station, under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarters Poonch, conducted a raid at Saiklu around 8 PM today and seized illicit liquor as well as fuel.
Acting on specific intelligence, the police searched the shop of Gagandeep Singh, son of Amrit Singh, a resident of Saiklu, and seized a large quantity of liquor, diesel, and kerosene oil meant for illegal sale.
The seized items include 18 bottles of Royal Stag (750 ml), 6 bottles of JK Whisky (750 ml), 6 bottles of Himalayan Rum (750 ml), 41 bottles of JK Special Whisky (180 ml), 48 bottles of Double Cross Rum (180 ml), 124 bottles of Royal Stag (180 ml), and 18 cans of beer (500 ml), totaling 261 bottles of liquor. Additionally, approximately 350 litres of diesel and 30 litres of kerosene oil were recovered.
A case under FIR Number 75/2024 has been registered under Sections 48(a)(f) of the Excise Act and 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, and the accused, Gagandeep Singh, was arrested on the spot for further investigation.
