RAJOURI, Feb 9: Excise Department team during raid in Nowshera area of Rajouri recovered 750kg Lahan and 20 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed a working still today.
Official sources said that Excise Department carried out operation to check the menace of illicit distillation and sale of locally made liquor in Excise Sub Range Rajouri.
On the directions of Excise Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Kusam Sharma, under the direct supervision of Narinder Singh, Excise and Taxation Officer Excise Range Rajouri- Poonch, a team of Excise Sub Range Rajouri consisting of Inspector Dr Sajad Majid and guards conducted series of raids at Patta, Rajpur, Kamila and Qila Darhal area of Nowshera Sub Division.
In the process 750 kg of Lahan, 20 litres of illicit liquor recovered from the working still at state land. The seized material was later destroyed on the spot. The accused persons have been booked under Excise Act.
