JAMMU, Apr 13: Gharota police seized 40 litres of illicit liquor.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gharota Police Station conducted raid in the house of a person identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Mir Chand, a resident of Sarote tehsil Bhalwal and seized 40 litres of illicit liquor. Ashok Kumar managed to escape from the spot.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that Ashok Kumar use to manufacture illicit liquor and sell it to general public to make illegitimate profits as wine shops are closed due to ongoing lockdown.
A case under FIR Number 26/2020 under Section 48-E Excise Act has been registered at Gharota Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gharota Inspector Rajesh Sharma made the seizure under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma, SP Rural Suram Singh and SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil.
