UDHAMPUR Jan 9: Police today seized 140 bottles of illicit liquor and arrested the bootlegger, who was smuggling the consignment in Tata Mobile vehicles from Udhampur to Mongri, here today. The vehicle, bearing registration number JK14B-9296, was intercepted by Police, led by SHO Pancheri, Inspector Sanjeev Sharma during a naka at Pancheri Morh. During thorough search of the vehicle, 140 bottles of J&K Excise Desi Whisky were recovered. Police seized the consignment as well as the vehicle and arrested its driver namely Mukash Kumar of Kotla Pancheri, who was smuggling the liquor for illegal sale in his native village. Police has registered a case in this connection under Section 48A Excise Act at Police Station Pancheri for further investigation.
