SRINAGAR, Dec 5: Police in Panzala area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today evening seized a truck of Forest Department that was carrying illicit timber.
Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rafiabad, Shabir Ahmad Khan told Excelsior that visibly truck was carrying firewood but the illicit timber too was in it. “We found that the firewood was kept over the illicit timber. We have seized the truck and started investigation,” he said.
The senior police officer said preliminary evidence hints towards the involvement of Forest Department employees. “See the documents were un-stamped while the signatures were also looking fake,” he said, adding: “we cannot rule out the involvement of Forest employees as the vehicles belong to their department.”
